This position supports NSP within the Strategic Missile Defense Line of Business in Lockheed Martin Space.

As the Flight Systems Engineer, you will:
• Design and develop the system requirements as they apply to the System under development
• Serve as the focal point for the development and communication of the system requirements for the various key partners including both internal and external customers as well as safety and security
• Develop system and system element architectures, designs, and interface definitions while supporting necessary internal and external design reviews
• Work with Certified Principal Engineers (CPEs) and designers to establish missile architecture
• Provide independent review and coordination to ensure flight system designs meet the architecture
• Support anomaly investigations
• Participate in design maturity reviews

Typically has 5 - 10 years of professional experience.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, Physics or other related discipline or equivalent work experience
• Familiarity with systems engineering fundamentals and the full life cycle of systems
• Experience with requirements engineering, use case development, logical architecture modeling, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
• Experience generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of desired capabilities
• Experience as a part of an integrated team tasked with defining the physical, functional, and technical architecture necessary to describe the desired capabilities of an evolving effort
• Participant in Systems Engineering reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR)
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Job Skills

• Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and take on numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
• Experience with roles in Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) Line of Business or with a major Weapon System
• Experience with Agile and Spiral Development Methods, team leadership, task tracking, and issue resolution coordination
• Experience identifying and defining desired system capabilities; modeling the interrelationships between internal and external components
• Experience with DOORS, Cameo and SysML
• Maintaining knowledge of current and developing technologies and design and analysis methodologies
• Experience with Navy strategic programs
• Experience on Navy submarine platforms
• Familiarity with Navy surface ship platforms
• Familiarity with Army programs and mobile platforms
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members
• Demonstrated basic understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors
• Active Secret clearance
