Shipboard Installation Technician - Copper Cable Termination
Employee will work in an industrial shipyard environment performing shipboard installation tasks in support of Aegis Weapon System Shipboard Alterations (SA) and Ordnance Alterations (OA). Tasks will be primarily focused on working with copper data and power cables. Will be assigned as required with an Alteration Installation Team (AIT) working 40 or more hours per week, as required to meet schedule commitments (overtime).

This position affords the opportunity to travel domestically and internationally to support our mission. Travel opportunities may be up to 75%.

Job Qualifications

Ability to communicate with various levels of internal and external management, customers, and suppliers.
Ability to comprehend and safely carry out shipboard installation tasks.
Ability to complete certification training and complete recertifications, as required.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally at least 75 percent of the time.
Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Experience with shipboard installations including:
- Existing cable rip-out and roll-back (including testing and cable/connector inspection);
- Power and data cable installation;
- Power and data connector termination;
- Opening, closing and testing Multi-Cable Transits (MCTs);
- Finalizing installations for space turnover to ship’s force (i.e. cable tagging/banding, final quality assurance inspections and remediation).
Ability to read and understand shipboard mechanical and electrical drawings.
Ability to work in a team environment with Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Leads and Technician Leads directing weekly/daily objectives.
Knowledgeable in Mechanical and Electrical installation/modification standards and methodology including NAVSEA Standard Items.

Job Skills

Copper cable termination certification and/or cableway inspection certification in accordance with DOD-STD-2003.
Fiber Optic cable certification in accordance with MIL-STD-2042 (Shipboard fiber certification/cable handling), MIL-STD-1678-1, NAVSEA SI 009-04 and 009-123.
OSHA Maritime 10-hour Training Course #7615.
Experience with requirements of current NAVSEA TS 9090-310; Shipyard Competent Person (29 CFR 1915, NFPA 306); ESH 40 CFR Hazardous Waste Management; ESH 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Transportation.
