LM MFC is seeking a highly qualified self-sufficient FPGA designer needed to develop, debug, and integrate processor subsystem features and interfaces in FPGA hardware. Task entails FPGA requirements development, FPGA code development of high speed interfaces, generation of self-checking test bench, unit test, synthesis, timing analysis, Built-In-Test (BIT) and support of debug and system integration activities. Individual needs to be familiar with PCIe, 10/40G Ethernet, FiberChannel and high speed FPGA internal fabrics. Individual needs to be familiar with modern FPGAs, DSPs, SBCs and high speed interfaces and memories. Applicant should have a strong background in cross-discipline systems engineering practices including requirements development/maintenance, architecture, test equipment hardware/software design, integration and verification. Applicant should be a proven problem solver who can multi-task in a complex interrelated environment. This role shall be key stakeholder in Design Assurance Reviews. This role will consult with Group Technical Staff, TE Incubator staff, and Design Assurance Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure the FPGA design is in-line with Enterprise standards. This role will be expected to provide timely and frequent communication on progress and significant issues to the Project Technical Lead and Engineering & Technology (E&T) Manager to prevent surprises. The role will be accountable to the Project Technical Lead for the test system performance.
Required Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related degrees with a preferred concentration in FPGA design and Digital Signal Processing through either coursework or relevant experience.
• Must be proficient in operating the simulation and modeling equipment including the designing tools
• Must be well acquainted with the basic characteristics of the digital designing instruments
• Must possess an expertise in the typical FPGA improvement platforms such as Actel Xilinx, Altera, etc.
• Must be knowledgeable about the high speed DSP and I/O and integrated CPU
• Must be able to execute the chip enhancement procedures including the procedures related to synthesis and time investigation
• Must have the capability to work in a dynamic work atmosphere where he needs to be cooperative with the other associates of the team
• Must be able to manage his time wisely, as he/she is required to complete the assigned projects within the given time
• In depth knowledge of requirements management lifecycle including derivation, trace, compliance and verification.
• Broad understanding software, hardware, firmware, electrical, test operations and configuration management
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a diverse team of different skillsets.
• Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) common toolsets, ideologies, and best practices: DOORS classic, DOORS Next Generation (DNG), Rational Rhapsody, No Magic MagicDraw, cross application linking, SysML, etc.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance
Desired Experience
• Experience with Verilog, C/C++, LabVIEW, TestStand, MatLab/Simulink, System Verilog languages; Synopsis Synplify, Synopsis VCS, NCSim, ChipScope tool sets desired.
• Experience with Xilinx and Altera Part family internal FPGA fabric and IP and model based compilers desired.
• FPGA design experience with tools noted above. Previous experience related to aerospace design techniques is desired.
• Experience with test equipment development and design
• Experience with defense system development and design, preferably missiles and ground systems.
• Experience working in defense industry.
