The candidate will be a member of the RMS VLS Field Engineering Team and will participate in the installation, test, repair and support of a wide range of electronic equipment and systems. Although most work will be associated with VLS Systems, the opportunity to support other equipment/systems also exists. The candidate will be responsible for providing installation support of equipment including performing equipment modifications and upgrades; performing equipment/system repair; performing the assembly, integration and test of equipment/systems; and perform daily coordination and communication with the Virginia Beach FRF manager and designated team leads as well as other program and customer representatives (both internal and external to Lockheed Martin). The candidate’s designated work location will be the RMS Baltimore facility with the potential to be relocated to Marinette, WI. Candidate must be must also be able to travel on an as-required basis to provide support onboard ships, or other land based facilities as necessary.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidate will have been certified to the level of VLS System Maintenance Technician (SMT) in accordance with NAVSEA Standing Instruction 86-2B, and/or served in the US Navy having a NEC0981 with strong written and verbal communication skills. A minimum of four years’ experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the MK 41 Vertical Launching System or equivalent systems required.

Job Skills

AS or BS in electrical or mechanical engineering desired but not required. Experience in the installation and checkout of weapon systems on board surface combatants during ship new construction or overhaul is also desired. Ideal candidate will have obtained the VLS Certification Level of Test Director or US Navy VLS Advanced Technician in accordance with NAVSEA Standing Instruction 86-2B.
